The Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District (AAED) is a neighborhood activation and economic development project for Downtown Atlanta. Established in 2017 by the Atlanta City Council and managed by the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, the project fuses new outdoor media, local art, accent lighting, and LED displays and static signage as well as advertising to fund cultural and public space programming in the city’s core. Inspired by comparable efforts like the Denver Theatre District, the AAED activates buildings and blank walls to infuse the Downtown neighborhood with light, art, and cultural programming.
Because of the extensive scope of this project, numerous contractors have been involved in building these installations throughout the downtown area. We have done video boards & flex face work for Orange Barrel Media at the Laz Parking at Forsyth and MLK, Peachtree Center, The Westin Peachtree Plaza, The American Hotel, Friendship Tower, The Hilton Garden Inn Downtown, and Embassy Suites Centennial Park. BIG Outdoor brought us in to build and install the angled steel support structure, secure penetrations of the stone façade, and install the LED displays at 101 Marietta Street. The Reverb Hotel project awarded us by Dezhu US involved not only the building ID signage package but a huge vertical LED display that is also a part of the AAED program.
